Fender Guitar Serial Number Guide

**Fender serial numbers are codes that indicate the year and model of a Fender guitar. They are usually located on the neckplate, the headstock, or the back of the neck. Fender serial numbers can vary depending on the country of origin and the type of instrument. Some common formats of Fender serial numbers are:

    L + six digits (1963-1965)
    F + six digits (1965-1976)
Letter + six or seven digits (1976-present)
MIJ, MIM, MIK, or MII + letter or number + five or six digits (Made in Japan, Mexico, Korea, or Indonesia)

*Please note that fender serial numbers tend to overlap by at least a year, and thereby the date of your guitar can only be approximated.
